Russian airstrikes on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv and the Black Sea port city of Odesa injured 13 people.
Local officials reported the information on the Telegram messaging app early Thursday. The attacks damaged buildings in both cities.
A Reuters witness reported hearing explosions in Kyiv in the early hours of Thursday.
Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives passed a bill imposing sanctions on Russia. The lower chamber voted 262-159 in favor of the 2026 Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act.
The bill passed the Senate last month by a vote of 86-11 and was sent to US President Donald Trump for signing.
The legislation provides for primary and secondary sanctions against individuals supporting Russia and the war in Ukraine. The sanctions would target Russian officials, oligarchs, their family members, foreign individuals, as well as Russian banks and financial institutions.
Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities have repeatedly targeted critical infrastructure and residential areas since the full-scale war began in February 2022. Kyiv and Odesa remain among the country’s key political, economic and transport centers.
