Natural gas supplies from Russia to Armenia will be suspended for 11 days due to scheduled maintenance and repair work on a gas pipeline in Russia.

According to a statement by Gazprom Armenia, the Armenian subsidiary of Gazprom, supplies will be temporarily halted from Sept. 15 to 25.

The company said any gas shortage during this period would be offset by domestic reserves and additional natural gas supplies from Iran.

Maintenance work will be carried out on the North Caucasus–Transcaucasia gas pipeline in Russia. The Soviet-era pipeline transports Russian gas from the North Caucasus to the South Caucasus and then to Armenia via Georgia.

The route is the only pipeline used to deliver Russian gas to Armenia. In 2025, 2.7 billion cubic meters of gas was transported to Armenia through the pipeline.

Landlocked Armenia remains heavily dependent on Russia for its energy supplies. According to the Interfax news agency, Russia accounted for 82% of Armenia’s gas imports last year.
