Russia extends fuel export ban for another month

The Russian government has extended a temporary ban on the export of certain fuel types directly by producers.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing Russian media.

The restrictions on the export of diesel fuel, marine fuel and gasoil from Russia directly by producers have been extended until Oct. 31.

The decision was adopted to maintain stability in the country’s domestic fuel market. Authorities took into account strong demand for motor fuel, particularly during the harvest season.

Russia’s broader ban on fuel exports will remain in effect until Jan. 31, 2027.

Meanwhile, the previous restrictions applicable to direct producers of diesel fuel, marine fuel and gasoil were due to expire today.

Russia is one of the world’s major energy producers, and temporary export restrictions are generally used to ensure adequate domestic supplies and limit price pressures during periods of heightened seasonal demand.
