US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that no US Navy warship had been hit in the Strait of Hormuz.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that a statement posted on the command’s social media account said all attack attempts by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had failed.
The statement said US forces had destroyed 10 Iranian tankers over the past week alone.
CENTCOM alleged that the vessels were part of a covert network worth billions of dollars that funded Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“Iran cannot defend these vessels,” the statement said.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. It is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, through which a significant share of global oil shipments passes.
