Russia attacks Ukraine with 157 drones and 16 missiles

Russian forces launched a massive overnight air attack on Ukraine, using 157 drones of various types and 16 ballistic and cruise missiles.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ukrainian Air Force Command issued an official statement on the attack.

Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 124 drones, as well as seven Banderol/Dan-T small cruise missiles, which are known as kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles powered by jet engines.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attacks mainly targeted civilian and critical energy infrastructure in the Kyiv, Odesa and Sumy regions. Serious damage was reported in eight regions across the country. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least 18 civilians were injured in the bombardment of the capital.

Air attacks involving drones and missiles have repeatedly targeted Ukraine’s cities and infrastructure since the start of Russia’s full-scale military operation in February 2022. Ukrainian authorities regularly urge residents to follow air raid alerts and take shelter.
