Ramin Mammadov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, has met with Damir Mukhetdinov, first deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia and rector of the Moscow Islamic Institute.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reported, citing the State Committee, that the meeting addressed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the religious and spiritual sphere, as well as issues related to religious education.

The participants also emphasized the importance of global cooperation and joint efforts to combat Islamophobia and religious discrimination amid the challenges of the modern era.

Ramin Mammadov highlighted the key features of Azerbaijan’s conceptual approach to preserving cultural diversity and promoting interfaith peace.

It was noted that, in line with the successful policy pursued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its international standing as a country where tolerance and multicultural values are supported at the state level.

Damir Mukhetdinov underlined the exceptional importance of President Ilham Aliyev’s efforts to ensure the sustainability of Islamic solidarity and interfaith harmony. The guest said Russia maintains close cooperation with Azerbaijan in the religious and spiritual sphere, describing the ties as strategic and important for the development of bilateral relations.

Azerbaijan and Russia have held regular contacts involving religious institutions and educational organizations. Such exchanges are aimed at promoting mutual understanding, supporting religious education and addressing discrimination and intolerance through dialogue.
