Portugal midfielder Rafael Leão addressed discussion about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with the national team after Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 away in a UEFA Nations League group-stage match.

Leão: The team comes first

“This is not an issue that concerns us. We showed once again that we are a team. I am sure Cristiano Ronaldo is happy about this win at home. I have a good relationship with him and know what kind of person he is. That is why I can say the most important thing is the team,” Leão told A Bola.

He noted that Portugal lead the group and said the team would prepare for its next match: “We earned three more points and are top of the group. Now we need to rest and prepare for Sunday’s match against Norway.”

Portugal beat Denmark

João Cancelo opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the Denmark-Portugal match. Mikkel Damsgaard equalised in the 23rd minute, but Gonçalo Ramos put Portugal back in front two minutes later. Rasmus Højlund made it 2-2 in the 53rd minute. Vitinha scored in the 67th minute and João Félix added another in the 87th to secure the win for the visitors.

It was reported earlier that Rafael Leão had been given the No. 7 shirt worn by Ronaldo for Portugal.
