British journalist and television presenter Piers Morgan has commented on the punishment Cristiano Ronaldo received while with Portugal’s national team. The Al-Nassr forward has been suspended from national team matches for 30 days and fined €255.
Ronaldo left the team’s camp in Copenhagen without permission on September 30, ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League match against Denmark. Morgan later voiced his support for the footballer amid his conflict with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.
Referring to Ronaldo’s fine in a social media post, Morgan wrote: “I can help pay the fine, Cristiano.”
