President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree regarding the organizational measures for the first-ever FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan in 2026.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decree mandates that the coordination of necessary measures to ensure the successful hosting of the U-15 World Cup and Festival be entrusted to the Organizing Committee. This committee was originally established by the President's decree dated December 15, 2025, in connection with the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will also take place in Azerbaijan.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with resolving all issues arising from this decree to facilitate the tournament's preparations.
It should be noted that the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on June 25, 2026, to host the inaugural U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan from October 22 to 31 of this year.
Hosting this historic event marks a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's sporting history. This tournament is expected to further strengthen the country's growing reputation in the international sports arena, contribute to the development of football, and enrich Azerbaijan's extensive experience in organizing prestigious global sporting competitions.
