President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the house-museum of the renowned vocalist Bulbul in Shusha on June 23.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Member of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Polad Bulbuloglu provided the distinguished guest with detailed information about the house-museum. He noted that the house, where his father was born and spent his childhood, was transformed into a museum by a decision of the Shusha City Council of People's Deputies in 1982, following the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The building underwent renovations in 1982-1983, during which the museum exposition was established and an administrative building was constructed on the premises.
The museum ceased operations during the occupation of Shusha, having been subjected to Armenian vandalism. Restoration efforts began immediately after the liberation of the historic city, consistent with the restoration of other cultural and historical monuments in the region. A new bust of Bulbul has been erected in the courtyard.
Furthermore, the original bust, which was damaged during the occupation, remains on display as a tangible testament to the crimes committed against Azerbaijan's cultural heritage during the conflict. Shusha, often referred to as the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, has been a focal point of extensive reconstruction and restoration efforts since its liberation in 2020.
