President Ilham Aliyev has signed a new decree amending the "Regulations on the Ministry of Economy," which was originally approved by his decree dated December 30, 2019.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state signed the new decree to formalize these updates to the ministry's operational framework.
Under the new provisions, the Ministry of Economy will no longer be tasked with certain responsibilities regarding the coordination and oversight of its internal structures and subordinate entities in cases specifically determined by the head of state. This adjustment is part of the ongoing administrative reforms in Azerbaijan aimed at optimizing the efficiency of government bodies and streamlining the management of state-owned institutions.
The Ministry of Economy plays a pivotal role in the economic development of Azerbaijan, overseeing industrial policy, entrepreneurship support, and investment attraction. Such amendments are frequently introduced to align the ministry's functions with the country's evolving strategic economic goals and to ensure more effective governance across the public sector.
