President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the laws “On the status of refugees and internally displaced persons (internally displaced persons in the country)” and “On the social protection of internally displaced persons and persons equated to them.”
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev signed the relevant decrees to enact these legislative changes, which aim to refine the regulatory framework governing the rights and social support mechanisms for these vulnerable groups.
These legislative updates are part of the ongoing efforts by the Republic of Azerbaijan to modernize its legal system and enhance the social welfare infrastructure for citizens affected by conflict. The Republic of Azerbaijan has consistently prioritized the social integration and protection of internally displaced persons, particularly as the country continues the large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation process in the liberated territories of Garabagh and East Zangezur, facilitating the voluntary and safe return of former residents to their ancestral lands.
