Azerbaijan has resolved all issues related to electricity and has created substantial potential, President Ilham Aliyev said.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that he made the remarks at a meeting dedicated to the State Program on developing the mining and metallurgical industry.
"We have resolved all issues related to electricity and created substantial potential. Today, we have sufficiently large reserve generation capacity. Electricity is also exported in certain volumes, but this export will become large-scale in the coming years, especially considering that there is serious concern and a shortage in global markets regarding energy resources — electricity, fuel, natural gas and all these products that ensure basic energy security. In other words, the global picture is clear. Therefore, the steps we took to carry out all this work on time protected us from major problems. Imagine that if we had not done this, we could have found ourselves in a very difficult situation today and, like some countries, would have had to go from door to door, pleading with others to ensure our energy security," the head of state added.
Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the situation is completely different today:
"We receive many requests, and naturally, we provide and will continue to provide assistance within our capabilities. Naturally, our role and influence are growing, while all our partners see how far Azerbaijan has advanced and how much it has strengthened in recent years. Today, Azerbaijan not only fully meets its own needs, but has also become an indispensable partner for many countries in the energy sector."
Azerbaijan has expanded its electricity generation capacity in recent years, enabling it to meet domestic demand while increasing its role as a regional energy partner. The country’s energy infrastructure supports both national energy security and electricity exports.
