President Ilham Aliyev has approved the “Contribution Agreement for the implementation of the project titled ‘Towards smart, sustainable and inclusive settlements in the Eastern Zangazur economic region – Integrated territorial planning for sustainable urban development’” between the Government of Azerbaijan and the UN Human Settlements Programme.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the president signed a decree to this effect.
The agreement was signed in New York, United States, on July 15 this year. After the document enters into force, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture must ensure the implementation of its provisions, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must notify the Programme’s secretariat that the necessary domestic procedures have been completed.
The UN Human Settlements Programme, also known as UN-Habitat, supports sustainable urban development, inclusive settlements and improved territorial planning. The project is intended to contribute to the development of smart and resilient communities in the Eastern Zangazur economic region.
