Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made important remarks to journalists at the airport before departing for New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the press service of the Iranian Presidential Administration issued an official statement on the matter.
According to the statement, Pezeshkian criticized the slogan of this year's UN General Assembly session, “Restoring trust,” saying that discussing trust was contradictory at a time when international organizations were ignoring human rights and legal mechanisms.
The Iranian president said he would bring international attention in New York to the pressure being exerted against Iran and his country's position, which he described as justified. He also noted that the other side continued its attacks in Palestine and Syria.
Pezeshkian also said that the US administration had not issued visas to members of Iran's media delegation. He linked Washington's move to concerns that Iran would voice the facts and actions carried out by the United States. The Iranian president said that, despite all restrictions, his country would convey its position through international media outlets operating in New York.
The UN General Assembly is the organization's main deliberative body, bringing together representatives of all UN member states for annual high-level discussions on international political, security and humanitarian issues.
