Nihad Suleymanli, who won a silver medal in beach wrestling at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, has spoken about his defeat in the final. He said a momentary mistake affected his chance to win gold.
“Thankfully, I won a silver medal. This result could have been a gold medal, but unfortunately, a momentary mistake left me in second place. But this is not the end. More prestigious competitions lie ahead, and, God willing, I will do my best to turn this silver into gold,” Suleymanli said.
The Azerbaijani representative also recalled a previous encounter with his opponent in the final. According to him, when he became champion at the world championships held in Baku, his opponent did not finish in the top three.
“This time, a momentary mistake and my opponent being on form affected the result. We need to learn from every competition. God willing, everything will go even better at the next tournaments,” the wrestler said.
Suleymanli also said he would continue his preparations to represent Azerbaijan at an even higher level in upcoming international competitions.
