Former Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann and Eddie Howe, who previously managed Newcastle, are considered leading candidates for the Manchester United head coach position following Michael Carrick’s possible departure. Sky Sports News reported the development.
According to the report, the English club considered options to replace Carrick before losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth. The match took place in the eighth round of the Premier League. The club is now said to intend to accelerate its search for a new coach.
Carrick is expected to leave his post in the near future. Nagelsmann and Howe are described as candidates who could take up the job at short notice. Their appointments would not require compensation payments to other clubs.
Howe, who left Newcastle last summer, could be interested in talks if Manchester United makes him an offer. Other candidates include Unai Emery and Antonio Conte, though they are not currently considered leading favourites, the report said.
