The Azerbaijan Journalists Network Public Union has launched the project "Support for Increasing Media Literacy in the Field of Science and Education" as part of a grant competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Education. The initiative, titled "Supporting Public Initiatives in Science and Education," aims to foster specialized journalism in the country.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the primary objective of the project is to contribute to the further improvement of professional skills among media representatives who possess field-specific knowledge in science and education. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic developments and public communication by training journalists to report more accurately on complex educational reforms.

The project will feature 10 interactive training sessions involving journalists currently active in the national media. These sessions will be conducted by official representatives from relevant government bodies and industry experts. The curriculum covers a wide range of critical topics, including the economics of education, preschool and general education systems, textbook policy, international rankings, digitalization in learning, and scientific reforms. Interested journalists must register by April 30, with the training sessions scheduled to begin in May and continue throughout the year.

This initiative comes at a time when Azerbaijan is undergoing significant educational transformations aimed at aligning the national system with international standards. By enhancing the quality of scientific-pedagogical journalism, the Ministry of Science and Education seeks to ensure that the public is well-informed about the strategic goals of the state's educational policy. Such specialized media training programs are considered essential for promoting transparency and fostering a knowledge-based society in Azerbaijan.
