Azerbaijan is marking Knowledge Day today.
According to a report by Operative Information Center-OMM, classes are beginning at all educational institutions across the country on Sept. 15.
A total of 2.2 million learners will attend educational institutions in Azerbaijan in the new academic year.
More than 130,000 children will enter the first grade in the 2026/2027 academic year.
Some 75,000 students have been admitted to all levels of higher education for the new academic year.
Under an order issued by the Ministry of Science and Education on the organization of the 2026/2027 academic year in general education institutions, the first lesson of the new academic year in all second- through 11th-grade classes nationwide will focus on the Year of Urban Planning and Architecture.
Knowledge Day traditionally marks the start of the academic year in Azerbaijan and brings pupils, students and teachers back to educational institutions following the summer break.
