US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York on Wednesday.
The meeting will take place as Washington pursues efforts to end the war in Ukraine, while Russia and Ukraine continue exchanging strikes on energy infrastructure.
Strikes on energy facilities
Ukraine has reported attacks on Russian oil refineries. Ukrainian officials said eight people had been killed in Russian strikes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had discussed with US President Donald Trump the possibility of a bilateral ceasefire covering energy-related targets.
Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians.
Lavrov to address UN General Assembly
Sergey Lavrov is expected to address the UN General Assembly session on Saturday.
