Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva, along with Arzu Aliyeva, visited the Khan Mosque during their trip to the city of Sheki.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that during the visit, the Imam of the mosque, Vuqar Mammadov, provided detailed information to Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva regarding the Khan Mosque complex. It was noted that the 18th-century Sheki Khan Mosque is one of the city's most significant religious, cultural, and historical-architectural monuments. According to historical sources and inscriptions on the monument, the mosque was built by Haji Muhammadhuseyn Khan.

The restoration work at the historic Sheki Khan Mosque was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Additionally, a museum has been established within the mosque complex, showcasing exhibits from the period of the Sheki Khanate and examples of material culture collected from various sources. The museum visually demonstrates the history of the emergence and formation of the Sheki Khanate, as well as its special place in the history of Azerbaijan's national statehood.

Sheki, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains a vital center for Azerbaijan's tourism and cultural preservation. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been instrumental in the restoration of numerous religious and historical landmarks across Azerbaijan, ensuring the protection of the nation's architectural legacy. At the conclusion of the visit, a copy of the Holy Quran was presented to Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva.
