Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Mohebb, official spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Tehran would fundamentally revise its defense and retaliatory strike strategy if the United States or Israel launched any new military intervention against Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the IRGC spokesman made the remarks during an interview with Al-Alam television.
According to the report, Mohebb said the geography of military operations would expand in the event of a new attack and that weapons with entirely new capabilities, not yet used on the battlefield, would be deployed. He said these steps would surprise the world. The IRGC official added that Iran’s armed forces had already identified new strategic targets that had not previously been attacked and that the country was fully prepared for prolonged-war scenarios.
Mohebb also addressed diplomacy, saying that the IRGC had not been involved in diplomatic talks and that no direct or indirect contact had been established with the United States. He further claimed that US military bases in the region had been struck and rendered inoperative, saying that Washington’s hegemony in the Middle East had come to an end.
The IRGC is Iran’s elite military and security force, operating separately from the country’s regular armed forces. It has a central role in Iran’s regional security policy and oversees the Islamic Republic’s ballistic missile and drone capabilities.
