Iran’s armed forces have once again warned that any wrong move by the United States will receive an immediate and proportionate response, maintaining a hard-line position toward Washington’s military and political moves in the region.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iranian state television cited statements by military officials.

According to the report, General Karimi, a representative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), assessed the security situation during a visit to Iran’s strategic islands in the Persian Gulf. Referring to the ongoing military tensions with Washington, he said Iran’s armed forces were fully prepared to respond with maximum force to any miscalculation or provocation by the enemy on the ground.

Meanwhile, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also highlighted Tehran’s distrust of Washington. Rezaei said official Tehran did not trust the United States in any way and stressed that the other side must first take practical and appropriate steps to normalize relations.

The Persian Gulf is a strategically important waterway through which a significant share of global energy trade passes. Tensions between Iran and the United States have repeatedly affected regional security, particularly around maritime routes and Iran’s military presence in the Gulf.
