"Iran considers the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States in Islamabad in June to remain valid and intends to return to resolving the conflict with Washington through diplomatic channels."

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks.

"Iran is not interested in continuing the conflict. It hopes to return to a diplomatic settlement while remaining determined to firmly defend its rights and interests. The Iranian side believes that the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran remains in force," Araghchi said.

He said Iran supports four initiatives put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping aimed at strengthening collective security in the Middle East.

"The Iranian side welcomes and supports the four proposals put forward by President Xi Jinping on maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East, as well as the four initiatives aimed at ensuring collective security in the region. Iran is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in this framework and hopes that China will play a more significant role in ensuring peace and stability in the region," the Iranian foreign minister said.

Araghchi also said that Iran and Oman had reached an agreement on a plan to open the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy corridor linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Any developments affecting navigation through the waterway can have wider implications for regional security and international energy markets.
