Azerbaijani Army serviceman Nasimi Musayev, who is being held in Armenia, did not intend to kill anyone.
"Operativ Məlumat Mərkəzi-OMM" reports that Sputnik Armenia cited Armenian Investigative Committee Chairman Artur Poghosyan as saying this.
He said the Azerbaijani serviceman had been questioned and had given a statement. According to Poghosyan, the serviceman lost his way because of fog. He declined to disclose further details of the accused person’s statement, saying the investigation was ongoing.
“We have to assess the facts. This person lost his way and came here on foot, saw a house, broke a window, went inside because he was hungry, prepared food for himself and changed his clothes. When the children entered, he took their phone and made them sit down, but did not harm them,” Poghosyan told journalists.
It should be noted that, according to information released by the Prosecutor General’s Office press service, reports emerged that Nasimi Rasim oglu Musayev, who was performing compulsory active military service at a military unit in the direction of Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, had gone missing. It was reported that a search for him began on September 26, 2026, after he was found absent from his place of service and his whereabouts could not be established. Relevant forces from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted the necessary search operations. The Military Prosecutor’s Office launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the incident, which found reasonable grounds to suspect that Musayev had left his military unit without authorization. Musayev was arrested by a decision of an Armenian court.
