The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has intercepted and destroyed another MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iran’s Mehr News Agency (MNA) provided the information.

According to the report, the operation was carried out using a new and advanced aerospace air defense system operating within Iran’s integrated air defense network. It was the fourth MQ-1 UAV reportedly neutralized by Iranian forces in recent days. No official details have yet been released about the UAV’s mission or origin.

Iranian forces are reportedly continuing to intensify military monitoring and surveillance operations against UAVs said to belong to the United States in and around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is one of the world’s most important energy transit routes. It is regularly monitored by regional and international military forces because of its strategic location and importance to global trade.
