Azerbaijani police have seized a significant quantity of illegal firearms and ammunition during operations conducted across the country. On April 22, law enforcement officers discovered and confiscated three assault rifles, 18 shotguns, four cartridge magazines, and 246 bullets of various calibers in Baku and several other regions of Azerbaijan.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the seizures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and prevent the illegal circulation of weaponry. The ministry emphasized that both operational and preventive measures are being actively maintained by police forces to locate and remove unregistered firearms from the hands of the public.
Azerbaijan maintains strict regulations regarding the possession and storage of firearms. Under national legislation, the unauthorized possession of weapons is a criminal offense, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts targeted operations to mitigate potential threats to public safety. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure stability and order throughout the Republic of Azerbaijan.
