An unannounced war is being waged against the Islamic world, and Islamophobia is only a small part of it.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks on Sept. 15 while receiving a delegation comprising Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev; members and observers of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States; co-organizers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference; and members of the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples of the Caucasus.
The president said activities directed against Islam were part of a targeted policy:
"An unannounced war is being waged against our religion and the Islamic world, and Islamophobia is only a small part of it. Those insulting acts aimed at discrediting and tarnishing the Muslim world, equating it with terrorism, and targeting our values and the holy Quran—do you think these happen by chance? No! This is a deliberate policy. What should we put up against it? Only our unity!"
The Organization of Turkic States brings together Turkic-speaking countries to promote cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas. Azerbaijan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of solidarity among Muslim countries in countering discrimination and protecting religious values.
