About 15,000 protesters took part in 65 actions across France on Saturday, with 27 arrests reported by 2 pm local time (1300 GMT), the Interior Ministry said, according to Anadolu Agency.

The ministry described the nationwide situation as “generally calm, with no notable incidents,” broadcaster BFMTV reported. The assessment contrasted with recent Saturday protests.

The figures were lower than those recorded on earlier mobilization days. On Oct. 24, 37,000 people took part in 108 actions, while Oct. 17 saw 67,000 participants in 198 actions, the ministry said.

The number of arrests also fell sharply compared with Oct. 24, when 217 had been recorded by the same time.

Saturday marked France’s third day of social mobilization in three weeks. Authorities had described the day as “high risk” ahead of Halloween, which falls on Oct. 31.

The ministry said security arrangements remained adapted to the situation and warned that police would show “the greatest firmness” toward anyone responsible for violence or damage.
