The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued detention orders for four people as part of an investigation into the suspicious death in prison of Kaşif Kozinoğlu, a former senior official of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Turkish law enforcement authorities released an official statement on the matter.

According to the statement, Kozinoğlu’s cellmates and officials who held positions at the prison at the time of the incident were included in the renewed investigation. The orders cover the person who served as Silivri chief public prosecutor at the time, the prison prosecutor and two people who shared a cell with the deceased.

During an operation conducted simultaneously in Istanbul and Ankara by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command on Sept. 17, 2026, then-Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor Ali İşgören, prison prosecutor Necib Doğan and cellmate Hasan Ataman Yıldırım were detained. Search efforts to apprehend Hasan Atilla Uğur, the other cellmate for whom a detention measure was ordered, are continuing.

Kozinoğlu, a former MİT official, died in Silivri Prison in 2011 while being held as part of an investigation. The circumstances surrounding his death have remained the subject of legal scrutiny in Türkiye.
