Four Philippine Air Force pilots were killed when two training aircraft crashed during a flyby rehearsal in Batangas province, Anadolu Agency reported.

The crash happened on Friday within the perimeter of Fernando Air Base in Lipa City. Local broadcaster ABS-CBN News reported the incident on Saturday, citing the air force.

Philippine Air Force spokesperson Col. Alvin Jay Capinguian said the aircraft were Italian-made Marchetti SF-260 trainers.

The SF-260 is used by the Philippine Air Force to train and qualify pilots for more advanced flying duties.

The air force said the pilots’ identities were being withheld at their families’ request. No other casualties were reported.
