A 5.3-megawatt Eyvazli hydroelectric power station is under construction on the Bargushad River in Qubadli district.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that AzerEnergy announced the project.
The station will be the first hydroelectric power plant built in Qubadli district, the company said.
A main water intake structure designed to meet environmental standards has been built on the Bargushad River to ensure a stable water supply. A 5.3-kilometer diversion pipeline has been laid across the challenging terrain, and construction of the powerhouse has been completed.
Tur turbines and generators, as well as enclosed 35- and 10-kilovolt switchgear, are currently being installed at the station. Construction and installation work at Eyvazli, which will be equipped with two Francis turbines, is expected to be completed soon.
Eyvazli will connect to Azerbaijan’s unified power grid through the 110-kilovolt Qubadli substation, which AzerEnergy built and commissioned in 2021.
Once commissioned, the new hydroelectric power station will make Qubadli one of the districts in the liberated territories producing “green” hydropower. The station is expected to generate 15.6 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, save 3.5 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevent the emission of 6,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
