Former Sabah captain Filip Ivanovic said the team had a good first half in its match against Viking. The footballer, who currently plays for Uzbekistan’s Sogdiana, spoke to sportal.az.
Ivanovic said Sabah adapted quickly to the artificial turf and opened the scoring early. He said the 0-1 scoreline created ample opportunities for counterattacks. In his view, Sabah could have avoided defeat had it made better use of its pace and ability to transition quickly into attack.
Ivanovic also shared his thoughts on Sabah’s match against Barcelona. He described it as a dream come true for every player on the team and advised them to take the field relaxed and enjoy the experience. At the same time, he stressed that they should put up a worthy fight.
“There is no need to fear the famous names at Barcelona. On the contrary, the players need to show courage, determination and fighting spirit. Whatever the result, no one can take away their effort or the pride of giving everything on the pitch,” Ivanovic said.
Sabah lost 4-1 to Viking in its most recent Champions League match. The team currently sits 31st in the standings.
