Fenerbahce beat Liverpool 3-2 in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase. Liverpool player Nyon opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the match, played in Istanbul on Nov. 4, 2026. Mason Greenwood equalized four minutes later.
Isak put the visitors back in front in the 69th minute. Brown leveled the score in the 73rd minute, and Muriki scored the winning goal for Fenerbahce in the 79th.
English winger Greenwood told the BBC that his team started the match fighting from the outset and did not stop believing it could win even when trailing 1-0. He congratulated the coaching staff, players and supporters, and said they were pleased with the victory.
Greenwood said the team had considered before the match that Liverpool were one of Europe’s best sides and had high-level players. Fenerbahce planned to defend in a low block, create dangerous situations, catch the opponent on counterattacks and compete effectively for aerial balls. Greenwood said the team knew it would get chances, took them and won.
