Elchin Amirbayov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, has held a series of high-level meetings during his working visit to the Vatican.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Holy See shared details of the visit on its X account. Amirbayov met with the Holy See's Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher. The discussions focused on the successful development of Azerbaijan-Vatican interstate relations in political and humanitarian spheres, as well as prospects for peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus and regional security issues.
Relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See have historically been characterized by mutual respect and significant cooperation in the preservation of cultural heritage. Azerbaijan has frequently contributed to the restoration of historical sites in the Vatican, highlighting its commitment to inter-religious dialogue and multiculturalism.
