People suspected of smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan by drone have been detained.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that operational and investigative measures established that an Iranian citizen had arranged for a particularly large quantity of drugs to be smuggled by drone to an area near the Jabrayil refugee settlement in Bilasuvar district.
During the operation, Azerbaijani citizens Rufat Bayram oglu Badalov and Rustam Ali oglu Mukhtarov were caught in the act and detained as they arrived to collect the drugs and arrange their subsequent sale. Authorities seized 14 kg and 158 grams of dried marijuana, 979 grams of methamphetamine and 23.1 grams of opium from them.
Investigative and operational measures are continuing in the criminal case.
