The smuggling of 111 kilograms of drugs from Iran into Azerbaijan has been prevented.
The State Border Service provided the information to “Operative Information Center-OMM”.
According to the service, personnel from the “Horadiz” border detachment of the Border Guard Forces prevented the smuggling of a total of 111 kilograms and 200 grams of drugs from Iran into Azerbaijan within their area of responsibility.
As a result of border searches and operational measures, 57 kilograms and 500 grams of drugs that were allegedly being brought into Azerbaijan from across the state border using an aerial vehicle on Sept. 22 were discovered. A further 53 kilograms and 700 grams of drugs were found on Sept. 24 and removed from illicit circulation.
Operational and investigative measures are continuing in connection with the cases.
The State Border Service is responsible for protecting Azerbaijan’s state border and combating illegal crossings and cross-border smuggling. The latest seizure was made in the area overseen by the “Horadiz” border detachment, which operates along the country’s border with Iran.
