An armed incident occurred near Niyazi Üzmez High School in Turgutlu district of Türkiye’s Manisa province.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz shared information about the incident on his official social media account.
The incident was recorded at around 7:59 a.m. Two people were seriously injured in the shooting. Emergency medical crews arriving at the scene provided immediate assistance and transported the injured to hospital.
Cevdet Yilmaz said police had detained the person suspected of carrying out the attack and that the suspect was currently under the supervision of judicial authorities. The governor of Manisa, as well as the ministers of National Education and Interior, traveled to the area. A comprehensive judicial and administrative investigation has been launched into the incident.
School-related security incidents in Türkiye are investigated by law enforcement and judicial authorities, while local officials coordinate emergency response and administrative measures.
