Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick answered questions about his future at the club after a 4-4 draw with Aston Villa in the 11th round of the English Premier League.
Sky Sports journalist Patrick Davison asked Carrick whether he was prepared to step down voluntarily in the club’s interests. The coach replied briefly: “No, that’s not going to happen.”
When the journalist asked whether he expected to discuss his future with the club’s management, Carrick turned the question back on him. He later said the team had not won enough games and stressed that he intended to continue in his job.
“I’ll try to keep hold of a lot of the good things we showed today, correct some mistakes and start winning football matches,” Carrick said.
After 10 matches in the English league, Manchester United sit 18th in the standings with eight points. The team have gone eight consecutive Premier League games without a win.
