Entry to the Khocasan and Avtovagzal metro stations will be free of charge temporarily from Sept. 23.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that, according to a joint statement by Baku Metro CJSC and the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, the decision was made to create additional travel options for passengers as part of a project to separate the metro lines.
The measure will allow passengers arriving from Sumgait, Khirdalan, settlements along the Baku-Shamakhi road, as well as several areas of the Absheron and Garadagh districts, to use the metro without entering the Shamakhinka and 20 January areas.
Passengers entering through the Khocasan and Avtovagzal stations will be able to travel free of charge to the 8 November, Darnagul, Azadlig Avenue, Nasimi, Memar Ajami, 20 January, Inshaatchilar, Elmlər Akademiyası and Nizami stations.
In addition, several bus routes are expected to be redirected directly to the Khocasan and Avtovagzal stations.
The measures are intended to distribute passenger flows more efficiently, expand alternative routes and optimize public transport operations.
Baku Metro is the main rapid-transit system serving the capital and its surrounding areas. Temporary fare arrangements at selected stations are designed to facilitate transfers and improve access while transport infrastructure projects are being implemented.
