Additional incentives and benefits, including discounts on railway freight tariffs, will be developed for Azerbaijan’s ferrous metallurgy sector.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this is outlined in the “State Program for the Development of the Mining (Metal Ores) and Metallurgy Industries for 2027–2030,” approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
Under the document, existing market conditions in the ferrous metallurgy sector, as well as production and logistics costs, will be assessed. Applicable incentives and benefits will also be identified.
The economic efficiency of the proposed incentives and benefits will be evaluated, while economically appropriate support instruments and a competitive railway freight tariff mechanism will be developed.
The implementation of economically justified incentives and benefits will then begin, along with the introduction of a competitive railway freight tariff mechanism for transporting ferrous metallurgy products.
Ferrous metallurgy covers the production and processing of iron and steel and is closely linked to construction, manufacturing, transport infrastructure and other industrial sectors. Reducing logistics costs and improving access to support mechanisms are intended to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic producers.
