Azerbaijan issues strong wind warnings for Baku and regions

Yellow and orange weather warnings have been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions of Azerbaijan due to expected strong winds on May 29-30.

According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, an orange warning has been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Nakhchivan, Gazakh, Agstafa, Shamkir, Tovuz, Ganja, Naftalan, Goranboy, Samukh, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Goychay, Agdash, Ujar, Zardab, Goygol, Mingachevir, Barda, Yevlakh, Tartar, Aghdam, Aghjabadi, Lerik, Yardimli, Gobustan, Guba, Gusar, and Neftchala. In these areas, northwest winds are expected to strengthen, reaching speeds of 20.8 to 28.4 meters per second.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning has been issued for other regions of Azerbaijan, where northwest winds will range between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second. The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors weather patterns and issues color-coded alerts to warn the public and relevant government agencies about potential risks associated with severe weather conditions, helping to mitigate impact on daily transport and infrastructure.
