Implementation has begun of President Ilham Aliyev’s decree “On pardoning a number of convicted persons.”
According to a report by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decree is being implemented at facilities operated by the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice.
Under the decree, 19 people sentenced to imprisonment and one person sentenced to restriction of liberty have been released from the unserved portions of their sentences.
Presidential pardon decrees are implemented by the relevant state bodies in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation. The process includes reviewing the status of eligible convicts and completing the necessary legal and administrative procedures at penitentiary facilities.
