The sporting director of Madrid's Atletico, Mateu Alemany, has addressed questions regarding the search for a replacement for star forward Antoine Griezmann.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the club official, finding a direct replacement for Griezmann is not a realistic objective.
"It is simply impossible to find a player with the exact same characteristics. We will have to look for alternative options to ensure the team does not suffer. We already have some ideas in this regard, and our plan aligns with the head coach's vision," Alemany emphasized.
Currently, the squad led by Diego Simeone sits in fourth place in the Spanish La Liga standings. The departure of Griezmann marks a significant transition for the club, as the French international has been a cornerstone of Atletico's attacking strategy for several seasons. The star footballer has already signed a contract with the US-based Orlando City, and the transfer is set to take place next summer.
The move to Major League Soccer (MLS) follows a growing trend of elite European players transitioning to the North American league.
