Former Paris Saint-Germain and Spain midfielder Ander Herrera, who now plays for Zaragoza, has spoken about his time at the Paris club and Lionel Messi’s arrival there. AS reported his comments.

Herrera said the club could not afford more big-money signings after recruiting Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. He said no transfer fee was paid for him and that PSG gave him five years at the club and the chance to play alongside some of the world’s best players. Herrera added that he came close to winning the Champions League.

Speaking about Messi’s time at PSG, Herrera said the team should have had one leading star. “I told Pochettino: I wouldn’t want to be in his position. In the end, everything turned into a disaster. There should be only one player with those privileges,” he said. Herrera also named Marco Verratti, Sergio Ramos, Neymar, Messi and Mbappe.

Messi played for PSG from 2021 to 2023. He scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 75 appearances for the Paris club. During that period, the Argentine won the French league title twice and the French Super Cup once.
