President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members met Azerbaijan’s national team players after their 6-0 victory over Timor-Leste at the FIFA U-15 World Cup.
"Operativ Məlumat Mərkəzi-OMM" reports that the head of state congratulated the young players and praised their performance:
“Once again, congratulations. You played a beautiful game. All the goals were excellent, each one better than the last. It is clear that you put together combinations requiring great skill and professionalism. You have made everyone happy.
Of course, hosting such a prestigious tournament in our country is also a major event. It will go down in history because this is the first championship. No football championship on this scale has been held here before. Azerbaijan’s confident win in this opening match will now remain in history forever. So, once again, congratulations. You have made our entire nation happy. I wish you further success.”
