Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Liu Haixing, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of its International Department, on September 8.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the meeting expressed satisfaction with the development of comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and China. The decisive role of President Ilham Aliyev and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in bringing bilateral ties to their current high level was emphasized.
The positive dynamics in trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries was highlighted. The sides noted that joint projects in the green energy sector were being successfully implemented and that there was significant potential to deepen cooperation in this area.
The meeting noted the consistent development of cooperation in transport and transit, emphasizing opportunities to further expand interaction within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor. The importance of opening the Zangezur corridor in strengthening regional transport connectivity and increasing transit potential was also highlighted.
The development of relations between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China was highly praised. The importance of further expanding inter-party cooperation and mutual contacts was also noted.
The sides discussed prospects for further developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in various fields.
Azerbaijan and China have expanded cooperation in trade, investment, energy and transport in recent years. The Middle Corridor, which links China with Europe through Central Asia and the South Caucasus, is regarded as an important route for strengthening regional connectivity and diversifying international supply chains.
