Officers of the Absheron District Police Department have detained 13 individuals suspected of drug trafficking and courier activities in the Masazir settlement over the past few days. During the operations, law enforcement seized approximately six kilograms of various narcotics and the psychotropic substance methamphetamine from the suspects.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the detainees include Turkana Mammadova, Samira Jahangirova, Tural Mammadov, and Vusala Jilgamli. The Ministry noted that comprehensive investigative measures are currently underway to identify further links in the supply chain. "Police officers are continuing systematic measures to combat the illegal circulation of narcotics," the statement emphasized.
Azerbaijan has significantly intensified its crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in recent years, focusing on both local distribution networks and international transit routes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts large-scale operations in suburban areas of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula to prevent the spread of synthetic drugs. These efforts are part of a broader national strategy in Azerbaijan to ensure public safety and protect the population from the growing threat of psychotropic substances.
