Shafa, the newly promoted club set to compete in the 2026/2027 season of the Azerbaijan Premier League, has officially appointed a new head coach.
According to information provided by the club to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Zaur Hashimov has been named to the position.
The club has signed a three-year contract with the 44-year-old specialist. Hashimov brings significant experience to the role, having previously served as a coach for Gabala and Zira, as well as holding a head coaching position at a Baku-based club. Additionally, he has experience at the international level, having previously led Azerbaijan's U-18 national team.
Hashimov has a historical connection to Shafa, having played for the club during his professional career. Notably, he was part of the squad that secured the Azerbaijan Cup title during the 2000/2001 season.
The Azerbaijan Premier League, the top tier of professional football in the country, continues to see growth and structural development as new clubs like Shafa earn promotion, reflecting the ongoing efforts to elevate the standard of football in Azerbaijan.
