Yovanovic: Germany win was special, but much work remains

Greece coach Ivan Jovanovic has spoken about his team’s preparations ahead of their UEFA Nations League third-round match against the Netherlands.

Greece defeated Germany 1-0 away from home in the second round. Jovanovic said the victory carried special significance.

“The win over Germany was special, but we have four matches ahead of us and still have a lot of work to do. The Netherlands are one of Europe’s best teams thanks to the quality, style and speed of their players. I believe this team has a great future ahead of it,” the coach told UEFA’s website.

Jovanovic noted that Greece always play their matches in packed stadiums, adding that this factor provides significant motivation for the players.

The Greece-Netherlands match will be played on Thursday, October 1. The game will kick off at 22:45 Baku time.

The UEFA Nations League is a competition organized by UEFA to provide regular, high-level international matches for European national teams. Its league format also gives teams an additional route to compete for a trophy and, in some cases, to pursue qualification opportunities for major tournaments.
